Research Interests
My research interests are mainly focused on the neurocognitve mechanisms associated with the vigilance decrement phenomenon, i.e., the progressive loss of sustained attention in prolonged tasks. I have contributed in analyzing vigilance as two dissociated components (i.e., executive and arousal vigilance), which are part of the attentional networks system. In the last years, I have been working on how different brain stimulation techniques (in particular, transcranial direct current stimulation -tDCS- and trascutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation -taVNS-) can mitigate the vigilance decrement.
