My research motivation stems from a strong interest in the biological foundations of our behavior and experience. I am particularly interested in the question of the neural basis of body and self-representation. Firstly, because these neural “models” (I believe we can call them that) provide an important foundation on which human embodied cognition is built. And secondly, because the “embodied self” faces ever new and greater challenges in our increasingly technological world—with consequences that we can hardly estimate at present.
