Studying healthily
Strengthen personal strengths to master challenges during your studies
Studying is a time that offers a lot of new things, but also demands a lot - everyday study life has to be organised, a lot of new information needs to be absorbed, there is a lot to learn and social contacts should not be neglected either. In this situation, it can be helpful to become aware of personal resources in order to cope well with difficult situations and look positively to the future.
This is where so-called positive psychology programmes come in. They aim to convey values such as confidence and skills such as composure and help to develop personal strengths. In this way, personal health can be promoted and personal goals, such as academic success, can be better achieved.
In cooperation with the Healthy University Working Group, the ‘Gesund studieren’ team has developed positive-psychological programmes with students for students (using the so-called peer-2-peer approach). This programme is particularly aimed at students in the introductory phase (1st to 3rd semester), but all interested parties are welcome. Through regular exercises in small groups led by student trainers, topics such as mindfulness and personal character strengths are developed and suggestions are given for integration into everyday study life. The exercises are scientifically monitored by the Chair of Health and Prevention and continuously optimised based on feedback from participants.
In the winter semester 2023/24, the ‘Healthy Studying’ training course will run from the end of October - a short introduction and six 90-minute sessions (Mondays or Fridays, from 23 October 2023) on topics including character strengths, mindfulness and gratitude. Four parallel groups are offered to enable small groups and good dialogue. Participation is free of charge and open to all students at the University of Greifswald - the programme will be held in person (Robert-Blum-Straße 13, SR 24/25).
