Sustainability

In its mission statement, the University of Greifswald acknowledges its responsibility to society as a whole to actively contribute to climate protection and to becomeCO2-neutral.

Its guidelines for realising the goal of aCO2-neutral university call for the avoidance, reduction and compensation of climate-relevant gases. This is a task for all members and bodies.

The staff of the chair not only take this mission seriously, but also want to realise it in concrete terms through the following measures:

Limiting long-haul flights (to conferences, lectures, etc.) to one flight per year per employee with simultaneousCO2 compensation for this flight

Complete renunciation of short-haul flights in favour of rail travel

Support for the Fridays for Future and Scientists for Future initiatives

Reduction in paper consumption by all employees

Covering shorter distances on foot, by bike or in an electric car
