Special offer for patients with chronic depression
What is chronic depression?
Depression is one of the most common mental disorders. Anyone can be affected by it. Those affected often notice a depressed mood, loss of interest and joy, reduced drive, feelings of guilt, and significant changes in sleep and appetite.
Many cases of depression are easily treatable, but one-third of all cases become chronic. This persistent depressive disorder (PDD) has serious consequences for those affected, their families, and society. Often, those affected have already undergone several therapies in the course of their lives that have not been sufficiently effective.
This study:
This clinical study aims to help improve psychotherapy for chronically depressed patients. It will help expand our knowledge of how psychotherapy works so that treatment can be tailored to individual needs.
This study compares the effectiveness of a newer therapy method developed specifically for this condition (called “CBASP”) with an already established psychotherapy (called “BA”) in patients with chronic depression who have not responded adequately to other attempts at therapy.
By conducting this clinical study, we hope to be able to tailor the treatment of chronically depressed patients even better to their individual needs in the future and to expand our knowledge of how the two therapy programs CBASP and BA work. By participating in the study, you will receive an intensive psychotherapeutic therapy program from a trained treatment team.
By participating in this study, you will help us to better understand and treat chronic depression. You will also benefit from…
- No weeks-long wait to be admitted to the clinic
- Valuable, comprehensive diagnosis of your problems throughout the entire treatment
- Intensive psychotherapeutic treatment for depression
- Participation in outpatient group therapy after discharge to maintain your success and prevent relapse
- Involvement in a larger scientific study with close supervision by trained staff who are always available to talk to you.
You can participate if you...…

…suffer from persistent depressive disorder
…have sufficient knowledge of German
…are between 18 and 75 years old
…do not have a diagnosis of bipolar I or II disorder

What can you expect?
Patients can contact the relevant clinics (see I would like to participate in the project) to express their wish to be admitted and participate in the study.
After the screening interview, you can then be directly included in the study and participate by receiving the treatment program.
