CBASP
Cognitive-Behavioral Analysis System of Psychotherapy (CBASP)
The Cognitive Behavioral Analysis System of Psychotherapy (CBASP) is a disorder-specific psychotherapy method designed for the treatment of chronic or persistent depression, which was developed by Prof. James McCullough. CBASP cannot be classified under any of the common schools of therapy, as it integrates behavioral, psychodynamic, and interpersonal theories and techniques. Prof. Eva-Lotta Brakemeier learned CBASP from McCullough in 2007 and adapted it in 2008 as a multidisciplinary therapy program for inpatient treatment at the University Medical Center Freiburg together with other colleagues. Since then, she has pursued the goals of spreading CBASP in Germany and conducting further research into it. In particular, the aim is to increasingly adapt CBASP to the specific problems and needs of patients.
